Fishing: Ontario Fishing

June 19, 2008 – 1:35 pm

Ontario fishing is well known the world over for its fishing adventures. Ontario fishing is plentiful almost year round. Early spring is a great time for Northern pike and walleyes. As they get ready to spawn they move into staging areas for several weeks. Its also a good time of year to find trout in shallow waters.

Ontario fishing in the summer brings with it stable weather. The Lake trout can be found in deeper regions of fifty to a hundred feet. Walleye and pikes will too, but will tend to move back into shallow areas to feed. This makes casting along the shoreline a popular place to hang out on temperate summer days and catch a bevy of fish.

Come September, the weather begins to cool again as does the water. More fish seek out the warmth of the shallow waters and the Lake trout move back to pre-spawn. Male trout eat aggressively during this period as do walleyes and pike. This makes for an excellent opportunity as the fish are greedy and will nibble at anything. But be careful! This also makes them put up more of a fight.

Lodging When Ontario Fishing
When it comes to Ontario fishing, one of the best lodges around is the Wildewood Lodge on Lake Savant. It is renowned for its trophy lake trout fishing. Its not uncommon to catch fifteen to twenty pound trout. The Lodge also boats guides who know all the best, hidden places to catch the most fish.
